It’s been close to 3 years in the making and we are finally here. What a surreal experience to awake and realize that our year long adventure has begun and that BCN will be considered our home for a year. It was quite emotional for us to actually touch down at the airport after waiting for this moment for so long.

We have a tonne to do but today was all about sleeping in and going for a walk to slowly take it all in. We are staying with friends that have been very gracious to open their home to us and help us get settled in. I knew it was meant to be as soon as Mary opened the door to their flat and two cats that look identical to Simmy greeted us.

Simmy was our cat that I had a really special bond with as a child. That bond was interrupted briefly when my mom decided that she didn’t appreciate the cat poop in her plants so she told Bruce to get rid of it by dropping it off far away. Don’t worry though, the Cat came back, and this whole plot was eventually revealed to me about 7 years ago.

Some of you have just figured me out knowing that my parents tried to off the family pet. And now I get double dose of Simmy! Ahhhhh!!

Tonight we are off to an engagement party of Mary and Demian’s friends. Talk about jumpin’ right in!
