Costa Brava Part Dos

October 17th, 2007

September.

We loved the Costa Brava so much the first time that we had to go back and spend some more time. This time for a week! (thank god they had internet connection)

Mary and Demian joined us for the weekend and although not enough wind to put the big kites in the air there was plenty to play around and get tugged with the trainer kite.

D with about a 2 minute ‘how to’. He was a pro in 5.

Little G and I prepare…and wait.

Later in the week the wind was so strong with gusts to 45mph. The best of the best made it out to the waters and yours truly was stuck on the beach whining like a kid leaving a candy store with an empty bag. Frustrating!!

Nuk’in winds. Gusts upwards to 45mph.

I did manage a couple of days where the wind subsided a touch and an 11m was fitting for the conditions. On other occasions the wind was too light but like any wind related sport patience is a virtue. I also learned that a 1-kite quiver is not going to cut it either! Yeah a new kite is in order!!

The final day of our getaway had the wind showing very little promise so we hopped in the car and raced to Figueres to see the Dali museum which was very impressive. Let’s hear it for hallucinogens!

Dali Museum

Drugs anyone?

Ummmm…..

Oh, now I get it.

Cadaques, Spain

After Dali, we raced to Cadaques which is a petite coastal town just short of France. Incredible coast line, small quaint beaches, but too many French speaking tourists so we decided to head home. ;)
